The show of Oprah Winfrey has seen a great transformation with the addition of various segments. Oprah book club is a popular segment of the show which has got a great fan following too. Oprah book club is mainly a discussion club of books where the books chosen by Oprah Winfry are highlighted. With the onset of the Oprah book club in September 1996, it has gained immense popularity.
Embarking on its journey on September 8, 1986, the Oprah Winfrey show has already passed through 24 seasons and as many as 3,724 episodes. It is the 25th season of the show when the D-day of Oprah finale will take place. After a suspension of the club in 2002 due to some criticism about her selections, Oprah Winfrey has corrected it and revived the segment the following year with a fresh format and began to focus on literary works.
The Oprah Book Club has changed the way American reads books. It has revived the population’s love for personal act of reading. Winfrey has utilized her talk show and her internet website to promote her book club. Some people say her selections are sometimes quite sentimental and melodramatic, but in general, they have helped lots of people keep track of the best books. Many people develop their reading habits because they admire Winfrey. This is a very good initiative to spread good reading habits to as many people as possible.
Robyn Okrant may actually have paid the ultimate tribute to the Queen of Talk – Oprah Winfrey. She has spent one year “Living Oprah” – trying to heed Oprah’s advice to always “Live Your Best Life”. All Oprah fans can support the idea that it’s hard to choose a “Best” moment on Oprah because there have been so many fantastic stories, heart-touching moments and audience suprises. However, I’m sure all of you out there have a few episodes or moments that stick out in your mind as the most memorable or as your favorite Oprah moment.
One of mine is from this year. When the Black Eyed Peas and a flash mob from Chicago surprised Oprah herself with a massive choreographed dance, it was AMAZING! To see Oprah surprised, and so thankful and joyful for the kickoff party suprise was even better. Thanks for giving us such wonderful moments over the year, Oprah - you deserved getting a special moment back!
